5 Reasons to Read Fangs, Fur &
Mistletoe
I especially love excerpts that draw me into the story
and let me get to know the characters. Sometimes a single, big excerpt will do
the trick. Sometimes I find that quick, shorter snippets from deeper in the
story really make me excited about a book.
So rather than give you a single, longer excerpt, I
thought we'd try something a little different. Option 2: A deeper look through
shorter excerpts.
I'm calling it: 5 Reasons to Read Fangs, Fur &
Mistletoe.
And just so I don't throw you in at the deep end,
here's the blurb:
Vampiress Coco Jeffress has one week to get her mojo back. After a long sexual drought, Mystic Isle, the exclusive pleasure playground for paranormals, is just what the doctor ordered. For once she's choosing lust over love.
Tall, dark, and oh-so-handsome werewolf Grayson West is well versed in the arts of war and women. He's got one week to blow off some steam before he heads back into the field and he's more than willing to help a lady find her inner vixen.
Especially when she's the same beautiful blue eyed vamp he met one hundred years ago and has never been able to forget. They were once sworn enemies, pulled apart by war. Now they're lovers. But history has a way of rearing its ugly head and their new relationship will have to stand up to the test of loyalty, friendship and even time itself.
Reason 1: Grayson West is well versed in the arts of
lust and war.
“I
remember everything,” she whispered, her fangs lengthening.
“This?”
he whispered, a large hand splaying across her lower back. Hot. Strong.
Possessive. Pulling her closer until their hips brushed.
“Yes.”
The word came out as a hiss.
He
took her hand and laid it over his heart. The organ beat out a steady rhythm
against her palm. She soaked in the heat of his skin, the strength of his
chest. “And this?” he asked, his deep voice seducing her as easily as his
touch.
“Yes.”
She
remembered the sound of his heartbeat thundering in her ears. His pulse,
visible in the strong artery in his neck. She’d wanted to taste his blood, sink
her fangs into him as he entered her.
She
still wanted that.
He
cupped her cheek with his other hand and dipped his head. The light from a
nearby lamppost lit his eyes. Just as they had all those years ago, his irises
flared, and for the briefest of seconds she thought that maybe he could see to
the depth of her soul. No one, not even Valencia and certainly not Dmitri, had
ever studied her so intensely.
“And
this?” he murmured again, their lips less than a centimeter apart.
She
smelled whiskey on his breath, one more memory of this night. All she had to do
was close the distance and find out if he kissed as well as he did in her
dreams.
Reason 2: Grayson's a romantic werewolf, but don't tell
anyone I told you.
“Where
are we going?”
He
stepped onto the boat and let her down. “You’ll see.”
It
took far too long to reach his destination, though in reality it was only a ten
minute ride. Steering the boat toward the shore, he gave it just enough gas to
skim the sand.
When
he turned for her, her gaze was fixed on the fire, the blanket and the basket
on the beach.
“I
would have never pegged you for a closet romantic,” she murmured, stepping
closer. Cupping his face in her hands, she kissed his cheek.
“Me
either.” But there was something about her… She gave him fantasies he’d never
had before.
Reason 3: Grayson is the protective sort. He defends
his woman (and her friends.)
In
all years Coco had been alive, she’d never been so pissed off before. Her anger
was a living breathing cancer inside of her, cutting off her air supply, making
her lightheaded.
Calm.
Steady.
She
lowered her head, glaring at him through her lashes, and hissed for good
measure. They reached for Izzy at the same time. But he fell short as a blur of
muscle tackled him from the left.
Coco
pushed Izzy behind her and took a defensive stance.
The
two wolves sprang up and glared at each other, Grayson on the left. Grayson had
the other man by the scruff of the neck, his expression lethal. “Leave them
alone, Dick. They’re not interested.”
A
rush of emotion flowed through Coco. He was defending her, them, even after
she’d shut him down.
Reason 4: He's confident enough to buy his woman
gorgeous clothes. (Really gorgeous clothes!)
Coco
shut the door and stared down at the box. A trickle of excitement made her
tremble. The handsome wolf was up to something. She headed straight for the
bathroom and hit the light switch with her elbow.
After
laying the box on the long, granite counter, she removed the lid. Holding her
breath, she pulled back the tissue and saw lace. Black lace, encrusted with
tiny black stones that winked up at her.
Sighing,
she pulled the garment from the box and a note fell to the floor.
An
exquisite dress for an exquisite lady. Meet me on the
beach behind the hotel at 11:30.
~G
Reason 5: He doesn't mind giving the voyeurs a little
show. (Watch out, steamy excerpt ahead.)
He
liked that she knew her own mind and body. Wasn’t willing to wait around all
night for a performance she wasn’t really interested in. It was just one of the
things he found surprising, appealing, about Coco Jeffres.
Removing
his hand, he couldn’t resist giving the demon an encore. Fingers still damp
with her juices, he clasped his hand around her throat, tightened his grip a
tiny bit and devoured her mouth.
She
made a sound of surrender, small but intense. Grayson broke off the kiss and
stood. Reaching for her hand, he caught the red flash of disappointment in the
demon’s eyes.
So
there you have it. 5 excerpts and 5 reasons to get your copy of Fangs, Fur
& Mistletoe.
